Advanced / Level 3 - Shaft Alignment Training Course
The four day Advanced and course and the five day Level 3 Certification Preparatory course are only recommended for those people who have taken the Basic/Level 1 or Intermediate/Level 2 course and have had 6 months to a year to practice what they learned in these courses or for those who have had at least 5 years of field experience in alignment.
This course covers all the material in the Basic / Level 1 and Intermediate/Level 2 course and...
• aligning multiunit drive trains and right angled drives
• how to measure off-line to running machinery movement (11 different techniques are reviewed)
• how to compensate for this movement when aligning the machinery off-line
• flexible and rigid coupling design, installation, and problem diagnosis
Recommended background knowledge for basic alignment course ...
• attended the Basic / Level 1 or Intermediate/Level 2 Shaft Alignment training course
• 2 years experience in CBM-P/PM-Proactive maintenance programs, or 2 years experience in the mechanical or electrical trades
Each student that attends the 4 day Advanced course receives a copy of the Basic Shaft Alignment Workbook, a copy of the Shaft Alignment Handbook and a certificate of completion. Each student that attends 5 day Level 3 Certification Preparatory course receives a copy of the Basic Shaft Alignment Workbook, a copy of the Shaft Alignment Self Study Guide, a copy of the Shaft Alignment Handbook, and a certificate of completion.
Course Objectives
The Advanced and Level 3 Certification Preparatory Training Course is a lecture and lab workshop where the students will be doing hands-on work with machinery alignment demonstrators. After completing this course, the students will ...
• cover and review all the material in the Basic and Intermediate Shaft Alignment Courses
• learn how to plot the positions of three or more shafts onto scaled graphs for determining the optimum movement on multiple element drive trains
• practice a multiple element drive train alignment on the demonstrators
• practice plotting a right angled drive train alignment problem
• how to determine what kind of machinery is most likely to undergo movement from off-line to running conditions
• be able to select from a variety of techniques to measure how machinery moves from an off-line to a running condition
• practice plotting a drive train that undergoes off-line to running machinery movement to insure that the machines are positioned correctly off-line to attain optimum alignment accuracy when the machinery is running under normal operating conditions
• review a number of case histories showing how machines have moved from off-line to running conditions
